Why Does This Site Have the Weird Name?

Cowboy in Africa was a TV show in the 1960s starring Chuck Connors. When I started kindergarten my mother bought me a Cowboy in Africa lunchbox. In my 20s I wrote a song with the refrain, "I want to go, but there's nothing worse than a cowboy in Africa."

This site has nothing to do with that TV show, or that lunchbox, or that song.

In 1999 I wanted a sandbox just for goofing around and learning web technology. I needed a domain – any domain – to use for that purpose. After searching a few domain names based on random thoughts in my head that day, I found COWBOYINAFRICA.COM was available. So I registered the domain, and I've had it, ever since. This utility is the only remaining web experiment on the domain.
